The Experiment at La Rosacita
Raw footage of the "Experiment at La Rosacita" in Iquitos, Peru, circa July 2006. Experiential journalist Rak Razam was covering the boom in ayahuasca shamanism (ayahuasca is a hallucinogenic Amazonian medicine) for Australian Penthouse magazine when he met the "Gringo Shaman" Ron Wheelock and his friend Dr. Juan.
This is the raw footage of the experiment, which is sampled in the new film Aya: Awakenings and provides a stunning and powerful historical record of what the human body can experience on this psychedelic. 5-MeO-DMT was legal until 2011 in the USA and is still legal in most parts of the world. Filmed by John Bowman.

Awakenings: Dr Juan
Rak Razam revisits the "mad scientist on the frontiers of consciousness, Dr. Juan" at the MAPS Psychedelic Science Conference 2013, where they examine the EEG readings from Razam's infamous 5-MeO-DMT "Experiment at La Rosacita" in Iquitos, Peru in 2006.
